Where this list comes from
Our Alabama roster uses covered records from Alabama Licensing Board for General Contractors (ALBGC). A current source check is still needed. Counts describe records in that snapshot, not every business operating in the state.
A license or registration record is a starting point. Credential types and scope differ by jurisdiction; a listing does not establish today's status or authorization for every type of work.
Before hiring, match the business and credential number with the relevant authority, check scope and current status, and confirm local permits. Contacts and Google ratings, when present, are separate enrichment rather than licensing evidence.

Alabama: credentials and scope
Alabama has a Licensing Board for General Contractors and a separate Home Builders Licensure Board for residential builders and roofers. Choose the board that governs the proposed work.
Our Alabama roster covers ALBGC classifications, not the separate HBLB, AECB, PGFB or HACR rosters. It does not establish those separate residential, electrical, plumbing or HVAC credentials. HBLB's verification page warns that received but unprocessed information may not yet appear and directs uncertain searches to the board.
Example: For a home addition or residential roof, check HBLB even when a business also appears in a general-contractor roster.
Check the board for the work, not just the board in our roster
- Our Alabama coverage comes from the general contractors board. Read its actual classification and limit; it does not establish a current license from the residential, electrical, plumbing or HVAC board.
- For residential building or roofing, use HBLB. For electrical work use AECB; for plumbing or gas fitting use PGFB; for heating, air conditioning or refrigeration use HACR. Ask each relevant board how its rules apply to the proposed work.
- Match the contracting business and responsible credential in those records. If HBLB’s search is incomplete or a filing is still being processed, follow its instructions to contact the board instead of converting no result into a legal conclusion.
Example: an ALBGC record with an electrical classification appears in your territory list. Before hiring for electrical work, verify the relevant AECB credential separately. Our list category is not evidence that we checked the separate board.

Common questions about general contractors in Alabama
How do I research general contractors in Alabama?
Start with the authority for the trade and project locality. Match the exact business and credential number, check current status and scope, then ask about local permits, insurance and comparable work. A directory listing or rating does not complete those checks.
How many general contractors does the Alabama roster cover?
Our snapshot contains 2,926 records in this category. Records are not necessarily unique companies, and source coverage is not a census of every business in the state.
Where does this data come from?
Covered records come from Alabama Licensing Board for General Contractors (ALBGC). License and registration types differ; check the credential that applies to your project. Contacts and ratings are separate enrichment where available.
What contact information is included?
Available fields can include phone, email, website and Google ratings. Availability varies by record and selection; an unavailable field is not a zero, closure or negative finding. Review the selected inventory before purchase.
What will my list cost and when will it arrive?
The current purchase flow shows the price for your selected territory and filters before checkout. Larger website orders are typically delivered within one business day. Custom research scope and delivery timing are agreed before purchase.
Does this list establish current license status?
No. The recorded source refresh date is 2026-09-02. This is a snapshot rather than a live-status guarantee. Verify the appropriate official record before hiring.
