Where this list comes from
Our Virginia roster uses covered records from Virginia DPOR (Dept. of Professional & Occupational Regulation). A current source check is still needed. Counts describe records in that snapshot, not every business operating in the state.
A license or registration record is a starting point. Credential types and scope differ by jurisdiction; a listing does not establish today's status or authorization for every type of work.
Before hiring, match the business and credential number with the relevant authority, check scope and current status, and confirm local permits. Contacts and Google ratings, when present, are separate enrichment rather than licensing evidence.

Virginia: credentials and scope
Virginia contractor licenses have both a class and a classification or specialty. The class concerns financial limits; the classification concerns the work. Neither can substitute for the other.
Current §54.1-1100 places Class A at $150,000 or more for a single project, or $1 million or more over twelve months. Class B and C have lower limits defined in the same statute. Check both project and annual volume; older $120,000/$750,000 Class A figures are obsolete.
Example: For a $160,000 project, do not accept a Class B credential merely because its specialty matches the work; confirm the required class with DPOR.
Make two checks: the business license and the individual trade credential
- Record the contractor business’s class and its classification or specialty separately. Compare project value with the class limits and the planned work with the specialty; a match on one does not establish the other.
- For electrical, plumbing or HVAC work, use DPOR’s Tradesmen Program as well as the contractor-business record. Ask which individual credential applies to the person performing or supervising the work; the company and individual are different records.
- Give DPOR the proposed scope and project value when a class or specialty is unclear. Tell the local building department where the job is located and ask about permits separately.
Example: a business has the correct HVAC specialty but the person presented holds a residential-only trade credential. For a commercial job, ask DPOR to resolve the scope rather than assuming that “HVAC” makes the two interchangeable.

Common questions about roofing contractors in Virginia
How do I research roofing contractors in Virginia?
Start with the authority for the trade and project locality. Match the exact business and credential number, check current status and scope, then ask about local permits, insurance and comparable work. A directory listing or rating does not complete those checks.
How many roofing contractors does the Virginia roster cover?
Our snapshot contains 1,338 records in this category. Records are not necessarily unique companies, and source coverage is not a census of every business in the state.
Where does this data come from?
Covered records come from Virginia DPOR (Dept. of Professional & Occupational Regulation). License and registration types differ; check the credential that applies to your project. Contacts and ratings are separate enrichment where available.
What contact information is included?
Available fields can include phone, email, website and Google ratings. Availability varies by record and selection; an unavailable field is not a zero, closure or negative finding. Review the selected inventory before purchase.
What will my list cost and when will it arrive?
The current purchase flow shows the price for your selected territory and filters before checkout. Larger website orders are typically delivered within one business day. Custom research scope and delivery timing are agreed before purchase.
Does this list establish current license status?
No. The recorded source refresh date is 2026-09-02. This is a snapshot rather than a live-status guarantee. Verify the appropriate official record before hiring.
