Privacy Policy

Effective date: June 18, 2026

1. Overview

ContractorRoster operates contractorroster.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our service, how we use it, and your rights with respect to that information. We collect only what we need to deliver your order and operate the service.

2. Information we collect

At checkout: We collect your email address and the information required to process your payment. Payment card data is processed directly by Stripe and is never stored on our servers. We receive a payment confirmation from Stripe but not your full card number.

Search and order data: We log the trade, geography, and search parameters associated with your order so we can generate and deliver your CSV correctly.

Usage data: We collect standard web server logs, including IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and referral URLs. This information is used for security monitoring, debugging, and understanding aggregate traffic patterns. It is not used to build individual profiles.

No accounts: ContractorRoster does not create user accounts. We do not require you to register or log in. Your email address is used solely to deliver your CSV and, where you have consented, to send service-related communications.

3. How we use your information

  • To process your payment and deliver your CSV to your email address.
  • To respond to support requests or questions you send us.
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorized use.
  • To understand how the service is used in aggregate (e.g., which states and trades are most searched) so we can improve it.

We do not sell, rent, or share information about you as a buyer or visitor with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Our sale of licensed-contractor records (a separate activity) is described in Sections 8 and 10.

4. Third-party service providers

We use the following third-party services in operating ContractorRoster:

  • Stripe: payment processing. Your card data is governed by Stripe’s Privacy Policy.
  • Resend: transactional email delivery of your CSV. Your email address is transmitted to Resend solely for the purpose of delivering your order.
  • DigitalOcean: hosting and infrastructure. Standard server logs may be retained by DigitalOcean in accordance with their data processing terms.
  • Outscraper: contact-data enrichment. We submit business names and locations from public license records to retrieve publicly available business contact details. No buyer personal information is sent.

We do not share your personal information with any other third parties except as required by law.

5. Cookies and tracking

ContractorRoster does not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. We store a single preference in your browser’s localStorage (your light/dark theme choice). This is not transmitted to any server and contains no personal information.

We may use basic analytics (such as page view counts) to understand aggregate usage. We do not use analytics tools that build individual behavioral profiles or track you across other websites.

6. Data retention

We retain your email address and order record for as long as necessary to provide support, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Because ContractorRoster does not create user accounts, there is no profile or account data to delete. If you wish to request deletion of your email address from our records, contact us at [email protected].

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect information transmitted to and stored by ContractorRoster, including HTTPS encryption and access controls on our infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. In the event of a data breach that affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

8. Your California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

ContractorRoster sells licensed-contractor records, which can include personal information, for example the name, business phone, email, and address of a sole-proprietor contractor. Because we sell this information, we treat the people in that dataset as having rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the CPRA, and we extend the same choices to everyone regardless of where they live.

What we sell. Identifiers (business name, license number, business address, phone, email) and professional or commercial information (trade, license type, status, issue and expiration dates), along with publicly available ratings. We obtain it from state licensing boards, government registries, and public business listings (see Section 10), and we disclose and sell these categories to our business customers, such as lenders, insurers, suppliers, and software companies. We do not sell the personal information of our website visitors or buyers, and we do not sell sensitive personal information.

Your rights. Subject to verification and legal exceptions, you may:

  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information.
  • Request deletion of your personal information from our dataset.
  • Request to know the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you, where it came from, and the categories of third parties we disclose it to.
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.

How to exercise them. Use our request form at contractorroster.com/opt-out, or email [email protected] with the subject “Privacy request.” You or your authorized agent may submit a request. We will acknowledge it within 10 business days and complete it within 45 calendar days; if we need more time we will tell you and may extend once by up to a further 45 days, as the CCPA allows. We may ask for information to confirm the request matches the right record before we act on it.

Public records. Some contractor information originates from government records that are lawfully made public, which the CCPA treats differently from other personal information. We honor removal and opt-out requests for our dataset regardless. We cannot change the record held by your state licensing board. Only the state can.

9. Children

ContractorRoster is a business-to-business service intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18.

10. Contractor data we publish

Separate from the information we collect about buyers (above), ContractorRoster compiles and sells records about licensed contractors. This data is drawn from public sources: official state license boards, government business registries, and contact information that businesses publish themselves (such as their own websites). It concerns businesses and their professional contact details.

We may use other public sources, including online business directories and mapping services, only to locate and verify records. We do not resell proprietary third-party platform content.

If you are a licensed contractor and would like your business contact information removed from our dataset, use our request form at contractorroster.com/opt-out or email [email protected]. See Section 8 for your full privacy rights, including the right to opt out of the sale of your information.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the date of the most recent revision. We will not make material changes to how we handle your personal information without posting a clear notice on this page.
