The contractor market in Oklahoma
This is our covered-source snapshot for Oklahoma, refreshed 2026-09-03. Counts describe records, not every contractor or unique company in the state.
Figures use separately generated snapshots: overall roster totals, trade counts and mapped-city counts can differ in scope and collection time and should not be added together or treated as a reconciled census. The displayed source refresh date does not date every aggregate. Population and households are sums of the covered ZIP estimates. The income indicator is a population-weighted average of ZIP-level household-income medians, not the state's household median. Census context can refer to a different period from the roster. Housing-unit authorizations refer to the displayed permit year; they are not completed projects. See the ACS estimate guidance and Building Permits Survey for the underlying statistical definitions.

Common questions about Oklahoma contractors
What does the Oklahoma roster cover?
7,214 records in our snapshot, refreshed 2026-09-03. Coverage follows the sources and trades listed here; it is not a census of every contractor or a count of unique companies. A company may hold multiple credentials.
How do I check a contractor in Oklahoma before hiring?
Oklahoma CIB regulates electrical, mechanical and plumbing trades, and roofing registration. CIB states that Oklahoma does not currently require a state general-contractor license. Compare the official record with the business on the contract, its current status and the proposed work. Check local permits, insurance and references separately.
Which trades are available in this roster?
electricians, plumbers, hvac contractors, roofing contractors. These are our covered categories, not a statement that each has a statewide license. Availability depends on territory and filters.
Does inclusion prove a contractor is active today?
No. The snapshot reflects source records at collection, not a live status check. Recheck the issuing authority before hiring. Missing records can reflect our coverage, source timing or search limits; they do not by themselves establish that a business is unlicensed.
How do I choose a list and delivery time?
Select a territory and review its available records and price before checkout. Contact fields vary by record. Larger website orders are typically delivered within one business day. Custom research scope and delivery timing are agreed before purchase.

Understanding Oklahoma credentials
Oklahoma CIB regulates electrical, mechanical and plumbing trades, and roofing registration. CIB states that Oklahoma does not currently require a state general-contractor license.
A roofing registration is a different credential from a skilled-trade license. CIB does not issue the project permit, so local permitting still needs a separate check.
Example: For a roof replacement, verify the roofing registration and any required commercial endorsement; do not search only the electrical or plumbing license list.
Do not look for a statewide general-contractor license that CIB does not issue
- For electrical, mechanical or plumbing work, check CIB’s appropriate licensed-trade record. For roofing, check the roofing registration and any endorsement relevant to the work.
- For general contracting, ask the project’s local office about requirements instead of concluding that a missing statewide GC record is a violation.
- Keep the permit inquiry separate: CIB does not issue project permits. Ask who will obtain the relevant local permits and which contractors will perform the regulated trades.
Example: a roof replacement contractor provides a registration number but also quotes mechanical work. Confirm the roofing record, then identify the mechanical license for that part rather than calling the registration an all-trade license.
